The Truth About Being Pretty

So this week I've been thinking a lot of about pretty people vs not so pretty people and for the sake of this blog let's just concentrate on exterior beauty since inner beauty really is a whole different subject. You can define pretty or not pretty on whatever terms and attributes that you feel is attractive. (Bare with me here, since I know I'm gonna sound like a total bitch. Call me it now, so we can get it out of the way and actually move on to what I'm actually writing about. )

The reason why I'm writing this blog is because sometimes I feel like just because I carry a camera on my neck people expect my camera to be a magic lamp and for me to be a genie. The camera is more like a magic mirror. It reflects back illusions and it tells you who is the fairest one and for some reason just because the mirror says snow white, you believe it?

I can create fantastic images, with beautiful light, wonderful composition and amazing emotion and some people cannot be happy because they don't feel "pretty" enough.

Here's the cold harsh truth about beautiful people. All people are ugly. A rare, very select few of us are actually beautiful, but most of us spend hours upon hours of going to the gym, putting on make-up, and buying new clothes to be more pretty. And even that is not enough. Even supermodels, need hours of hair and make-up to look glamorous in their photos. Victoria Secret models go on a strict diet and workout two weeks before a runway show. Seriously, what am I saying here?

I'm saying that being pretty is something everyone can have. It is just like anything else. It is a skill that can be learned and it doesn't fall in your lap! If you feel you are not pretty it's really as simple as spending some money, buying some clothes that bring out your eyes, putting on some lip gloss....and most importantly gaining some confidence! You don't have to be skinny or have the most expensive haircut. Confidence goes a long way because when you look at your photos you are not criticizing how fat you look. Being photogenic is all about being comfortable in your own skin....and make-up and fluff is just accessories to help you gain confidence. Let's face it, confidence is sexier than anything else.

You have an idea of what you think should be beautiful and you have total control of your own beauty. I hate it when people complain about not knowing how to do their hair or put on make-up when they don't bother to even learn. Or people who complain about how over weight they are, and never go to the gym or eat right. Being pretty needs a little effort on your part to.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, and the beholder is you!
