I've had about four classes with Paul Estabrook as the teacher at Sac City and every class he has a fieldtrip where all the students bring their camera and we walk around pretty much the best parts of downtown...and of course I never go. I have a hard time being interested in pictures of still life so for the fieldtrip I challenged myself. I set my camera to jpeg and shoot only in black and white, of which Paul thought was weird because it's so simple to change it over nowadays with everything being digital. Of course, he has a valid point, but when I first starting shooting one of my very good friends Tom Huynh told me that I should master my black and whites because it will help my understanding of color so much more and I guess that kind of stuck with me.
I even carry that concept with in my wedding photography. I feel sometimes black and white simplifies an image and can really help you focus on the subject....and there is just something so classic about it....so I carry a camera with me to only shoot black and white during weddings and that camera with a 50mm lens almost never lets me down.
I'm finally getting around to editing some pictures from a wedding from Lisa and Jason's vineyard wedding in February and it just reminded of how beneficial my little black and white camera is.

I especially love this photo of the bride and her maid of honor.

This ring is totally in style right now. So modern and beautiful.

I'm a sucker for great ideas and this name tag tree of all the guests was just so clever and it's sort of has an asian inspired feel.
